A program to support scientists, engineers and innovators become great founders

What’s required to turn pioneering research into a blue economy action that matters?

The A'Pelago LabOff program is designed to support scientists, engineers, and innovators grow into founders and contributors who bring their ideas from the lab into the business world.

Throughout the program, you’ll work closely with the A’Pelago team to answer key questions:

  • Is my idea truly worth pursuing?
  • How do I turn cutting-edge research into a startup?
  • Am I addressing a problem with a large enough market?
  • How do I find and recruit a world-class team?
  • Am I the right person to build this venture?

You’ll explore whether entrepreneurship is the right path for you, what it really takes to be a founder or business contributor and how to develop the traits great founders share. You’ll learn how to translate your science and technology into a startup and assess whether your idea has the potential to make a civilizational impact.

What will I gain?

  • Cohort: Build alongside ambitious scientists and engineers tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
  • Tailored learning: Monthly workshops, hands-on sessions, and one-on-one coaching designed specifically for researcher founders.
  • Experiential learning: Sessions from successful startups and on intensive cohort camps.
  • Founder readiness: Guidance on solution validation, product and service design, branding, team building, funding, and pitching.
  • Field trip opportunities: Access to the Nordic blue economy ecosystem through five optional, extra-add on blue economy field trips across Turku, Copenhagen, Trondheim, and Stockholm.
