Mikko Pohjola
Climate and Nature Action, Innovation, Startups and Forestry
Mikko Pohjola is Head of the Viikki Wood & Forest Innovation Hub at the University of Helsinki, where he drives sustainable innovation in the forest sector by connecting research, startups, and industry. He has a PhD in Economics from Utrecht University and a strong background in innovation, entrepreneurship, and ecosystem development.
Mikko has co-founded several startups, including Korpi ForRest and Monttu Ventures Oy, and has served as Program Manager for Finland’s national Catch the Carbon R&I program at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In addition, he is an active forest owner and board member in multiple forestry organizations.
