Lena Bergström

Lena Bergström is a marine ecologist specializing in human impacts on marine ecosystems and ecosystem-based marine management. As Associate Professor and Head of the Ecosystem Analysis Unit at SLU Aqua, her work focuses on sustainable coastal and marine governance, including fisheries, marine spatial planning, restoration, and offshore renewable energy.

She is actively involved in international expert groups within HELCOM and International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), where she contributes to advancing science-based approaches for healthier and more resilient marine ecosystems.

Through her research and advisory work, Lena helps bridge science, policy, and innovation to support the sustainable future of the Baltic Sea and global ocean environments.
