Susanna Forssell

Susanna Forssell is Circular Materials Project Lead at Arcada University of Applied Sciences and a chemical engineer specializing in circular materials, renewable technologies, and sustainable process development. Her work focuses on bridging research and industry by evaluating how emerging bio-based and circular material innovations can be scaled into commercially viable solutions. She has extensive experience in techno-economic assessments, process design, and the development of renewable chemicals and advanced biomaterials.

With a strong background in research and innovation, including doctoral work on scaling up bio-based materials and industrial processes, Susanna is passionate about accelerating the transition from promising technologies to real-world applications. At A’Pelago Initiative 2026, she will contribute to Deep Dive II: Marine Materials – From Innovation to Industry in the Baltic Sea, sharing insights on how marine and bio-based material innovations can become scalable, investable, and competitive business opportunities.
