Dr. Vilma Sandström is a Research Coordinator at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Helsinki, working within the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS). She plays a key role in advancing inter- and transdisciplinary research collaboration across the HELSUS, Helsinki One Health (HOH), and Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ) networks. With a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy, Dr. Sandström’s research focuses on sustainability challenges in food and water systems, with particular expertise in global material flows and international food trade. Passionate about systems thinking and impactful science communication, she works to foster innovative approaches to understanding and transforming food and water systems for a more sustainable future.
