
Water-Food Futures
Water-Food Futures aims to foster sustainable water use in food systems by supporting stakeholders in adapting to environmental and societal changes. The initiative focuses on reducing water overuse and pollution while ensuring food security and maintaining economic viability.
Through the development of nature-based and technological solutions, Water-Food Futures strengthens the resilience of agriculture and food systems, reduces environmental impacts, and generates new insights into the effects of water scarcity on food system sustainability. The project also provides tools for farmers, policymakers, and consumers to make more sustainable decisions.
As part of the WAWE program, Water-Food Futures works to build water-resilient food systems, both in Finland and globally, focusing on smarter water resource management, the sustainability of food systems, and the social dynamics of water and food decision-making. The goal is to ensure a sustainable future for both water resources and food production.
