As part of its presence at the A’Pelago Initiative 2025, the Digital Waters Flagship (DIWA) will host a practical “How to” workshop addressing the pressing water and coastal challenges currently facing Finland. The Workshop will be facilitated by Petteri Alho, Vice Director of DIWA and Head of Department of Geography and Geology at University of Turku.

The session will spotlight the latest research on Finnish water resources and foster solution seeking dialogue between researchers, companies, and innovators on collaborative responses. Participants will explore topic such as: water quality and coastal ecosystem resilience, flood management and risk mitigation, digital tools for real-time monitoring and prediction, nature-based and tech-driven solutions for water sustainability.

This 1-hour workshop aims to identify actionable pathways for innovation, cross-sector collaboration, and scalable solutions that contribute to the more sustainable management of water in Finland and similar coastal regions.
