Workshop: How to Shape the Future of Water via Food

WAWE Workshop: How to Shape the Future of Water via Food
Wednesday 20.8.2025 | 13:10–14:00
Closed session – max 60 participants

As part of its presence at A'Pelago Initiative 2025, WAWE will host a 1-hour workshop Exploring sustainable and responsible water and food futures. In this mid-day "How to" workshop we will together explore the opportunities and challenges of our food systems to produce enough nutritious food for all while safeguarding environmental sustainability. The Workshop will be facilitated by Vilma Sandström.

The co-creation workshop will contribute to developing alternative future scenarios that support both environmental health, sustainable use of water resources and food security. We emphasize cross-sector collaboration with different stakeholders to foster knowledge creation and action that supports sustainability transformations.

This workshop forms part of Water-Food Futures research project, which is part of Finnish strategic research programme Water as an Element of Wellbeing, Security, and Peace (WaWe). Its goal is to promote sustainable water use in the food system by advancing scientific understanding of how food production and consumption impact water resources. The project aims to identify solutions that reduce water overuse and pollution while ensuring food sufficiency and the economic viability of production.

Participation requires a valid A’Pelago Initiative 2025 ticket and advance registration. Due to limited space, A’Pelago reserves the right to select participants based on applications.
